Anambra UPP governorship candidate Osita Chidoka
As the November 18, 2017 Anambra State Governorship election draws nearer, the Non-Indigenes Youth Forum of Anambra State (NYFAS) has declared its support for the candidate of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Chief Osita Chidoka.
This is just as Chidoka has assured of an all-inclusive administration where all residents, irrespective of their states of origin, would enjoy all rights, privileges and responsibility available in the state.
NYFAS is the umbrella and apex decision-making body of all youth associations of Anambra State residents from other parts of the country, particularly the other four southeast states.
President of the Forum, Prince Sunday Aniobi made its position known at a reception organised by the group in honour of Chidoka at Nkpor, Anambra State on Friday.
In a 10-point endorsement delivered by the General Secretary, Comrade Uche Andrew Chukwuojo, NYFAS said its decision to endorse Chidoka and UPP derived from the fact that the candidate and the party best represent their interest and aspiration as well as those of Ndi Anambra in general.
“Our resolution flows from the fact that among all the candidates, only Chief Osita Chidoka has been able to marshal out clear-cut plans and programmes for the development of the state, with commitment to ensure equity and fairness among all residents without recourse to divisive considerations.
“This is in addition to the fact that the UPP, the only pan-Igbo party is also the only party that entrenched the wishes and aspiration of the masses in its manifesto and ideology for the good of all”, the group stated.
The Forum also observed that an “overwhelming majority of Ndi Anambra are of the objective consensus that Chief Osita Chidoka is the best candidate for the position”.
Stating that they are equally and directly affected by political decisions in the state, especially the choice of who becomes the Governor, the non-indigenes said that “as responsible citizens, they have resolved to vote and to do so according to their conscience and conviction in support of Chidoka and the UPP.
Responding, Chidoka thanked the association and assured them of his determination to “build a model state that will be home to all and where people live harmoniously without recourse to primordial and divisive tendencies”, noting that such is already contained in his manifesto.
Chidoka has continued to receive endorsements from critical stakeholders and groups. His campaign has been adjudged as leading in grassroots penetration and acceptance by major voting segments of the population ahead of the poll.
