Governor Wike expressed his commitment to work closely with his Bayelsa State counterpart to foster regional integration, socio-economic and political ties.

The Rivers State Governor, who was accompanied by the former Acting National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, was full of praise for Governor Dickson for putting in place a state-of-the-art Governor’s Office complex.

He noted that, the PDP and the Ijaw nation are proud of Governor Dickson’s performance in office, which has endeared him to the People of the Niger Delta and beyond.

His words: “First of all, I’m not surprised because Dickson was prepared for the office and so you can see the results. When you are prepared to write an exam, certainly you will pass very well. And so what I have seen today, he has made PDP proud. He has also made the people of Bayelsa State, the Ijaw nation and Niger Delta proud. Look at the edifice, (new Governor’s Office), it was not there before. I’m so happy. In fact, I was telling him, that I thought we have an office but with what I’ve seen today, I think I’d better have a re-think and see what I’m going to do to my office when I return to Port Harcourt.”

On his part, Governor Dickson expressed gratitude to Chief Wike for the visit, which he noted marks the beginning of closer interactions, which would deepen the relationship between the two sister states.

According to Governor Dickson, the meeting also deliberated on how to intensify security and developmental issues in the best interests of the people of the South-South region and particularly the two sister states of Rivers and Bayelsa.

While appreciating the developmental strides of his Rivers State counterpart, Governor Dickson called on Rivers people to sustain their support for the Wike-led administration.

“We have started a process of consultations and interactions which we intend to strengthen and deepen in the interests of the people of our states and in the larger interest of our region and Nigeria.”

“I thank you and your government and the good people of Rivers State. I thank you for the work you are doing in Rivers State and I call for more support for your government and look forward to working with you to strengthen the bond that is so natural between our states.”
