The Peoples’ Democratic Party, Lagos State chapter has given the Minister of Works, Power & Housing seven days within which to confirm or debunk the whistle recently blown that his administration left office leaving the State with monumental debt burden. To the PDP, Fashola must do this to show responsibility to Lagosians. “He may also go further to also let us know how much debt he also inherited if any”
In a press release signed by the Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary, Taofik Gani, he said that the Lagos State House of Assembly must also debate this disclosure in the interest of tax paying Lagosians. ” the LAHA must immediately constitute a committee to look into the disclosure and at the same time demand that governor Ambode should furnish it with facts and figures to confirm or debunk the allegation. The governor must make a declaration of the debt burden he inherited from the past administration.
The Lagos state PDP is making this agitation as follow up to the disclosure by the leader of APC and former Governor of the state, Bola Tinubu, that Governor Ambode inherited debt burden but yet able to carry out developmental projects. “Whilst we shall look into and demand the actual report of service of governor Ambode, it is expedient at this time to voice out on behalf of Lagosians that the immediate past governor, Fashola, must answer to this indictment of his administration.
The silence of Fashola since this assertion by the leader of APC has indeed also vindicated us, as we had persistently maintained that Fashola’s government was extortionate and propagandists. That in spite realising average of 23billion monthly IGR, local and foreign loans, domestic and international donations, his assumed achievements in security, beatification, Schools renovated, roads etc were actually the making of individuals, cooperate bodies, Federal government, concessionaires and international organisations”
Stating further, the PDP says any further delay in probing Fashola’s wastages as governor “we will name governor Ambode as accessory after the fact”
The PDP specifically mentioned that the LAHA should set up investigative committee to look into the specific issues of the abandoned light rail project, Lekki Epe expressway initial concession, SUBEB and ETF, purported Housing projects, and the abuse of office for personal benefits under Fashola.
“Lagosians must know why they are in debt. The immediate former Governor has been rumoured to have committed financial contribution of about 38billion naira into the Buhari campaigns hence his now enjoying the headship of three major and buoyant engineering ministries, though not been an engineer”.
