I watched the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on AIT yesterday accusing the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, of been after his life.
Governor Wike while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Saturday said that before he travelled to Kaduna on Friday, “the IGP directed his crack team to invade his home in Asokoro, Abuja supposedly acting on information from a whistle-blower”. I want to challenge Governor Wike to expose the so called “whistle-blower” if really he is sure of his unguided statement in blackmailing the amiable Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris.
What will the Inspector-General of Police gain in taking Governor Wike’s life?
It is on record that the same Governor Wike recently mopped up arms and ammunition from so called “repentant militants” in Rivers State, so I will not be surprised if Governor Wike has kept some of the firearms in his Abuja home and looking for soft landing by claiming that the Police want to plant firearms in his Abuja.
It was on record that Governor Nyesom Wike had a control on INEC, the judiciary and security agencies until recently under the present Inspector-General of Police, IGP Idris Ibrahim, who had refused to accept the rebellious proposal of Governor Nyesom Wike in compromising the security and lives of the Rivers State people.
It is also on record that several INEC personnel are presently facing trial in court over alleged bribery by Governor Nyesom Wike involving N360million.
If Governor Wike’s hand are clean, he should not be scared of his residence been searched by the Police as far as a duly certified search warrant will be issued by the Law court. Immunity does not cover been investigated by the security agencies.
The vicious war being unbridled on the Inspector General of Police by Governor Nyesom Wike is a desperate attempt to blackmail, coerce and subdue IGP Ibrahim Idris to do the bidding of the Governor in exchange for the tempting inducement he always swings which they have so far ignored.
It is high time the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari call Governor Nyesom Wike to order as his utterances is grave threat to National security.
