Popular football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Brighton & Hove Albion’s manager, Graham Potter has accepted to become Chelsea’s new head coach.
Chelsea on Tuesday announced that its contract agreement with Thomas Tuchel has been terminated.
The Blues’ decision to sack Tuchel came following a UEFA Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday.
Potter made Chelsea’s shortlist of coaches likely to take over from where Tuchel stopped.
Pundits had suggested the English Premier League club had listed the likes of Real Madrid’s manager, Zinedine Zidane and Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino as possible new coaches.
In a Twitter note on Thursday, Romano said Potter has accepted the offer and the contract, agreement and other documents are now being prepared.
Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly, however, is said to have shown keen interest in Potter after the club signed Marc Cucurella from Brighton.
He is said to have learnt of Potter’s ideas, concepts and methods during the deal for the defender. And while other managers have been offered to Chelsea, the club has decided to settle for the 47-year-old.
