BREAKING: NNPCL Increases Petrol Price After Supply Disruption

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, across its retail outlets.

Findings from Daily Post show that NNPCL filling stations in Wuse Zone 6 and Zone 4, Abuja, have increased their petrol price from ₦890 to ₦905 per litre, marking a ₦15 rise, or about a 1.7% increase.

The President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, attributed the increase to supply disruptions caused by the ongoing dispute between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Dangote Refinery.

According to him, independent marketers are currently selling petrol between ₦885 and ₦895 per litre, depending on location.

“It is due to PENGASSAN’s strike disruption. However, members still sell at ₦885 and ₦895 per litre,” Maigandi said.

The recent increase follows a two-day strike action by PENGASSAN over the alleged mass sacking of Nigerian workers at the Dangote Refinery. The action, which disrupted fuel supply nationwide, was later suspended after federal government intervention.

The increase in fuel price is expected to worsen inflationary pressures and further raise transportation and living costs across the country.
