The Governing Council of the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, has announced plans to reclaim part of the institution’s land currently occupied by the Ministry of Water Resources.
This was disclosed in a statement by the College’s Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Omoyeni, after the Council’s recent meeting held on campus.
According to Omoyeni, the Council also resolved to begin the process of upgrading the College from a monotechnic to a polytechnic, as part of efforts to expand its academic scope and infrastructure.
Chairman of the Governing Council, Abayomi Adegoke, reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to the growth and transformation of the institution.
“We must all work together to ensure the rapid development of this great institution. That is the mandate given to us by the Governor,” Adegoke said.
He emphasized the need for the College to compete favorably with other higher institutions across Nigeria in both academic excellence and physical infrastructure.
On the land dispute, Adegoke described the contested area as a strategic asset with high economic potential for the College.
“We are setting all necessary machinery in motion to reclaim the land occupied by the Ministry of Water Resources. Once recovered, it will boost our internally generated revenue,” he added.
He also called for improved security within the institution, stressing the need to appoint a Chief Security Officer to safeguard lives and property on campus.
The Provost, Dr. Lateef Olarewaju, assured the Council of the management’s full commitment to achieving the new goals, particularly in strengthening academic programs and infrastructural development.
