Not less than three residents were reportedly killed and six others abducted in a suspected terrorist attack on Jouro Manu Village in the Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Eye witness accounts claimed that some gunmen arrived in the village on motorcycles at about 2 pm on Sunday and started shooting sporadically.
One of the residents, Abdullahi Mohammed, said that many villagers were forced to flee the community for fear of being killed or kidnapped.
The Acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State command, Gambo Bajabu Kwache, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said the police were already on top of the situation.
“We are on top of the situation. We have made a deployment to the area to track down the attackers,” she said.
