It was an interesting experience during the week as aspiring runway models converged on the Nike Art Gallery in Lekki, Lagos, to audition for the forthcoming African Fashion Week, which is slated to hold from September 7th-9th 2022, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The founder of the event, Ronke Ademiluyi, noted that every year, models audition for the opportunity to host the programme. She added that the event is one of the ways they (models) penetrate the fashion industry.
She also stated that celebrity stylist and owner of Tiannah’s Empire, Toyin Lawani, will be collaborating with the Lagos Fashion Fair and African Fashion Week Nigeria ‘to bring the project alive in a grandiose manner’. Lawani will also have an exclusive masterclass at the event where scholarships will be given to deserving participants.
On her part, Lawani stated that modelling is an influencing job where people have to pay for their clothes to be worn.
