John Okafor better known as Mr Ibu,Veteran Nigerian actor, has said that he became cautious and doubtful of people’s intentions after being poisoned.
The comic star had narrated on several occasions how he was poisoned in the past by persons close to him.
He made this statement in an interview with The Punch published on Sunday, August 21, Ibu said he is now mindful of new faces around him, considering that it was done by someone he helped.
The actor said; “These days, I am usually skeptical because I later found out that it was somebody I had helped in the past (who poisoned me).”
He futher revealed that he is still undergoing treatment in Abuja because there is still some remnants of the poison in his system
“If not for God, the result would have been bad. As I speak with you now, I am still being treated somewhere in Guzape, Abuja,” he added.
Speaking further, the movie star urged government to do more to in terms of ensuring the safety and secutity of filmmakers.
He said, “I expect the Federal Government to act on this. Whether we like it or not, we (actors) are serving the government. The movies we make are for the benefit of the general public. If the government wants to better protect us, they can do it.”
Meanwhile, a funny video which circulated recently showed the legendary actor getting a stylish haircut.
The comic star created some humour in the barbing saloon while having an interaction with other customers. Mr Ibu went with his daughter who made sure to capture the rare moment on camera.
When the barber was almost done cutting the actor’s hair, he made some complimentary remarks to which the movie star responded.
The barber mentioned how the Nollywood star looked much younger than his age, but the compliment didn’t go down well with the comedian.
But it was not a serious matter as Mr Ibu was quick to shut the barber down and stated that he he is okay with looking fresh but not younger than he is.
