Ogbonna Nwuke, chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says the resignation of Senator Walid Jibrin as the Board of Trustees, BoT, Chairman isn’t enough to solve the crisis rocking the party.
It was reported that Jibrin resigned from his position on Thursday at the 97th National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Following Jibrin’s resignation, former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara emerged as the new PDP BoT Chairman of the opposition party.
In an interview with TheGuardian, Nwuke said Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and his allies cannot be appeased with the resignation of Jibrin.
The former member of the House of Representatives said BoT was only an advisory body, which has not much effect on the party crisis.
He added that the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, cannot come from the North, which he said negates fairness and equity.
