The horrific image of one of a Ukrainian soldier freed from Russian captivity has caused a stir on social media.
It was reported that the Ukrainian ministry of Defence had on Friday shared a photograph of one of their soldier, Mykhailo Dianov on the microblogging platform, Twitter looking emaciated.
Ukrainian soldier Mykhailo Dianov is among the fortunate ones: in contrast with some of his fellow POWs, he survived Russian captivity. This is how Russia ‘adheres’ to the Geneva Convention. This is how Russia continues the shameful legacy of Nazism,” the ministry tweeted.
A before and after photo of Dianov’s captivity was shared and in his present look, the middle-aged soldier looks completely malnourished and frail.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said the country had secured the release of 215 people in Russian captivity.
