The Osun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, has confirmed the death of a yet-to-be-identified young man in a road accident.
A speeding Tipper according to reports, ran over the victim and crushed him to death along the Owode-Ede area of the state on Friday.
that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the busy Gbongan-Osogbo road at Owode-Ede when he was hit by the incoming tipper.
The driver of the Tipper and his conductor reportedly fled the scene upon sighting a mob coming at them.
Eyewitnesses who spoke with Daily Post said the incident caused a traffic jam in the area as commuters gather to watch the gorry image of the victim.
Confirming the incident, the Osun State Sector Commander FRSC, Paul Okpe explained that the remains of the pedestrian had been deposited at a morgue by his men.
“There was an accident at Owode-Ede. A tipper driver ran into a pedestrian who attempted to cross the road. Our Emergency Team quickly rushed to the area and evacuated the body to a morgue in the State.
“We learnt that the tipper driver ran away. I think when he saw the crowd gathering, he thought they wanted to mob him and ran away with his conductor,” he said.
