The leadership of Afenifere has revealed that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, are the reasons why the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation would not be supporting presidential candidates from other regions of the country other than the South-East.
It was reported that Afenifere had months ago declared their backing for an Igbo presidency in the 2023 elections.
The Southwest group was, however, criticized for its decision which many described as unnecessary.
However, in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, September 26, Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo explained categorically why the socio-cultural group has decided to support Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, against the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Adebanjo reiterated in the statement that neither Tinubu nor the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, would be supported by Afenifere.
