South East Senators-elect have throw their weight and endorsed their worthy inl-law, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio as the 10th Senate President
Southeast Senators endorse the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to emerge Senate President of the 10th Assembly.

A social-cultural organization and the assemblage of youths in various clans and communities of Igbo extraction both home and in diaspora, known for promoting national unity and peace “Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide”, advised the southeast contenders for senate presidency: senators: Orji Kalu and Osita Izunaso to respect the party’s supremacy and the choices of the ruling party, APC.

The ruling party, All Progressives, APC and it’s National Working Committee (NWC) had zoned the Senate President to the Southsouth and endorsed senators Godswill Akpabio from Akwa-Ibom North senatorial zone and Barau Jibrin from Kano, Northwest as Deputy Senate President.

“The southeast senators-elect, assures Akpabio of their vote and support as their good and worthy inl-law.
Umahi further disclosed that he withdrew from the race for the Senate President in the interest of the South East region, adding that it will not be in the interest of the zone to always be in the opposition and protesting.
He stated that politics is all about dialogue, adding that if the South East “surrenders now, by God’s special grace and considering the efforts made in marketing APC in the zone, we will get some other things that are tangible in the South East,” he said.
David Umahi, has said that one of the Senate presidency contestants, Abdulaziz Yari, lacks the constitutional requirements to emerge senate president.
“It is very logical and it will help to stabilize the nation. So, I think that we should begin to put the interest of the nation first before other considerations.”
Umahi also stated that the APC has the backing of most of the PDP senators-elect in ensuring that Akpabio emerges as Senate President in the interest of the nation at large.
The former Governor of Ebonyi State also said his choice to back Senator Akpabio instead of Senator Uzor Kalu, is because he has party supremacy at the top of his priorities and since Akpabio has been endorsed by the president, they would not oppose that position by supporting Uzor Kalu or Osita Izunaso.
