Davido, the renowned Nigerian musician, recently shared a story of how he contemplated selling his father’s Rolls Royce to fund his music career.
During an interview with ABtalks, he revealed that his father, Mr. Adedeji Adeleke, was reluctant to provide financial support for his music aspirations. As a result, Davido decided to take matters into his own hands by breaking into his father’s Atlanta home in the United States and selling multiple televisions.
At the time, Davido was just starting out in his music career and expressed his desire to return to Nigeria. However, his father opposed the idea, leading Davido to seek alternative means of raising funds.
He recounted how he sold off the televisions and even contemplated selling his father’s Rolls Royce as one of the “crazy measures” to gather money for his music ambitions.
Davido shared, “So I blew up, remember I said that I told him I wanted to move back, but he disagreed. I ended up dropping out, and he found out that I wasn’t in school for about a year. I broke into his house in Atlanta, sold all the TVs, sold his furniture. I almost sold his Rolls Royce because I was like, ‘Yeah, I want to do this music,’ but he didn’t want me to. So I was like, ‘You know what? I’m just about that crazy.'”
It’s important to note that the context and timeframe of this account may have been specific to Davido’s early experiences in his music career.
