In a surprising turn of events, former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) closed his case with a significant revelation in court today.
Key points to consider:
1. Certified copies of certificates from Chicago State University in America were presented, bearing the name “Bola Adekunle Tinubu” (female). This starkly contrasts with Bola Ahmed Tinubu (male), the candidate who ran under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last election.
2. The Presidential Election Petitions Court has admitted these certified copies of academic and work records, including a B.Sc certificate from Chicago State University, NYSC Discharge Certificate, and Mobil Nigeria Oil Plc certificate of service.
3. The documents were brought forward by the PDP’s subpoenaed witness, Mike Enahoro-Ebah, a private legal practitioner, who noted that they were purportedly obtained by Bola Tinubu but contained the name ‘Bola Adekunle Tinubu.’
4. The witness also tendered forms EC13 and EC9 nomination forms, as well as letters written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as attachments.
5. Although objections were raised by counsels representing INEC, Bola Tinubu, Emmanuel Ukala, and the APC, the documents were admitted by the court.
6. The witness further referenced certified true copies of various documents, including Tinubu’s nomination letter, payment receipt for certification, witness application letter, INEC’s response letter, Chicago University academic records, NYSC discharge certificate, certificate of service from Mobil Oil Nigeria PLC, and party membership card.
7. Additionally, the PDP presented certified true copies of forms EC8A from various LGAs in Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, Imo, and Kogi states.
During cross-examination by INEC’s counsel, Abubakar Mahmoud, the witness clarified that he has not incurred excessive expenses in bringing forth the truth. When asked if he was displeased with his candidate’s loss, the witness affirmed the sentiment.
The court adjourned for further cross-examination, leaving these revelations as a focal point in the ongoing legal proceedings. The implications of these documents have sparked intense debates and raised questions about Bola Tinubu’s identity, casting doubt on his eligibility to hold public office.
