The Ebonyi State command of the Nigeria Police Force announced on Friday that it had apprehended six individuals suspected of being involved in kidnappings and armed robberies in the state. The State Commissioner of Police, Faleye Olayele, revealed the arrests during a press conference held in Abakaliki.
According to Olayele, the suspects were arrested on June 21 in Abakaliki following credible information obtained by the command. The police conducted a raid on a criminal hideout located on Okposi street, resulting in the apprehension of the gang.
The commissioner of police identified the suspects as Nwanya Emmanuel, Kingsley Amezi, Okoro Ogbonna, Abraham Ogbonna, Uchenna Ekuma, and Samuel Ajah. The police recovered several weapons from their hideout, including two locally fabricated single-barrel guns, a locally fabricated revolver pistol, a pump-action gun, a stun gun, 18 live cartridges, and assorted phones.
The arrested suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and investigation by the police. Commissioner Olayele used the opportunity to warn criminals to cease their criminal activities, emphasizing that the state would not be a conducive environment for them.
