Renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to accelerate its investigations into the cases involving the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, and the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Programme, Politics Today, on Friday, June 30, the human rights lawyer urged the DSS to promptly arraign Emefiele and Bawa in court if the agency possesses any evidence against them.
Falana emphasized the need for swift investigations, particularly when serious allegations have been made. He expressed his expectation that there should be no delay in examining the grave accusations brought against the individuals.
The senior advocate argued that the continued detention of Emefiele and Bawa does not align with the principles outlined in the administration of the Criminal Justice Act. Falana advised the federal government to handle the cases of the two individuals in accordance with the law.
