Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the representative of Anambra South in the Senate, has strongly advised Biafran agitator Simon Ekpa to refrain from issuing sit-at-home directives in Anambra State. Senator Ubah suggested that Ekpa should focus on his home state of Ebonyi instead.
Despite the mainstream leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) suspending the sit-at-home exercise, Ekpa has been actively promoting the directives in Southeastern states. Senator Ubah expressed concerns about the negative impact of the unproductive Monday sit-at-home order on security and the economy. He called for an end to the practice, starting with Nnewi.
During a stakeholders meeting in the Anambra South zone, Senator Ubah sternly warned Ekpa, who he claimed is working in Finland on Mondays, to cease instructing sit-at-home orders in Anambra State. The senator criticized Ekpa for repeatedly mentioning his name while ignoring his own home state of Ebonyi, which does not observe sit-at-home directives. Senator Ubah stressed that he is an elected representative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and demanded that Ekpa refrain from mentioning him or Nnewi again.
Addressing Ekpa and others advocating for sit-at-home orders, Senator Ubah cautioned them to be careful and stated that he would not elaborate further. He urged Ekpa to observe sit-at-home in Ebonyi and in his own village with his family, emphasizing that Anambra State should be left alone.
Senator Ubah affirmed their commitment to overturn any sit-at-home directive, regardless of attempts by spies to interfere in their affairs. He declared that businesses in Nnewi would resume operations starting from the following Monday and expressed determination to confront any aggressor who tries to disrupt their activities.
The senator’s firm stance reflects the resolve of the Anambra South zone to reject sit-at-home orders and protect their economic interests, despite anticipated sabotage from external forces.
