The Osun State Police Command has apprehended a 17-year-old female teenager, Ahiante Victory Ehiremen, along with two others, Ariyo Ayobami (32) and Adeleke Opeyemi (23), for their involvement in conspiracy and armed robbery. The suspects were paraded in Osogbo by the Commissioner of Police, Patrick Kehinde Longe, who revealed that they were arrested in Ikire on June 28, 2023.
According to Longe, the victim had reported that he met Victory Ahiante on social media and was invited to visit Osun State from Lagos State. However, upon arriving in Ikire, Victory lured him to her boyfriend’s house, where he was attacked by unscrupulous individuals who robbed him of his phone. The suspects then used the stolen phone to transfer N1.5 million from his bank account.
In response to the report, police detectives swiftly took action, leading to the arrest of Ariyo Ayobami. Further investigations led to the apprehension of the two other accomplices. The police commissioner noted that efforts are ongoing to arrest additional culprits, and the suspects will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded.
During the interrogation, Victory, a student of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), confessed that her boyfriend, Ayobami Oyebanji, who is involved in cyber fraud (Yahoo) activities, had orchestrated the attack on the victim whom she had met on WhatsApp. She stated that she had invited the victim to her boyfriend’s apartment, unaware that her boyfriend and his friends would confront him. She expressed fear and regret over the incident, mentioning that her boyfriend later admitted to extorting money from the victim and gave her N40,000 for her own expenses.
The police command emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents, with investigations ongoing to apprehend any other individuals involved in the crime.
