The Rivers State Police Command has announced the arrest of one of their personnel, Bright Oke, on charges of armed robbery and car snatching. The police corporal, who has already been dismissed, was apprehended along with three accomplices in Port Harcourt.
According to Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson of the command, the arrest was made by men of the C4i Intelligence Unit who became suspicious of a Toyota Corolla car with a matching description to intelligence received. The officers gave chase and intercepted the vehicle along Ada George Road in Port Harcourt.
The three arrested individuals, including the dismissed police corporal Bright Oke, Samuel Charles, and Michael Nwachukwu, were found to be involved in an armed robbery where they attempted to snatch a Toyota Corolla car at gunpoint near the Apostolic Church Gateway in Port Harcourt. One member of the gang managed to escape.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Oke and his accomplices confessed to the crime. Oke was subsequently tried and dismissed in accordance with police internal procedures. The recovered exhibits from the suspects include a single-barrel locally made gun with a live cartridge and the grey Toyota Corolla car from the robbery.
Iringe-Koko stated that the dismissed police officer, along with his accomplices, will be charged to court to face the consequences of their actions.
