The Ebonyi State Government has announced the approval of a N10,000 salary addition for its workers as part of efforts to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal. The decision was made during the Executive Council Meeting held on Friday in Abakaliki.
Mr. Chikadibia Okpor, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, confirmed the approval to the press. He stated that the issue of workers’ salaries was raised and thoroughly discussed during the meeting. As a result, the government has decided to provide an additional N10,000 to every worker’s salary in the state as a measure to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
This move aims to alleviate the financial burden faced by workers due to the increase in fuel prices resulting from the removal of subsidies. The salary addition is expected to assist employees in coping with the rising costs of transportation and other essential expenses.
