Adams Oshiomhole, former National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has clarified that they did not promise miracles to Nigerians during their campaign for the election of President Bola Tinubu. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Oshiomhole urged Nigerians to be patient with the new government, emphasizing that the president is not a magician who can instantly solve all the country’s problems.
The former Edo State governor highlighted that their campaign did not include unrealistic promises or overnight solutions. He refuted the notion that they ever made commitments like resolving issues within a short period after taking office.
Addressing the removal of fuel subsidy, Oshiomhole pointed out that President Tinubu has taken decisive steps to address the impacts of the decision. He commended Tinubu’s courage to make tough decisions and his humility in acknowledging unintended consequences while ensuring measures are in place to handle them.
Regarding the N30,000 minimum wage in the country, Oshiomhole criticized it as a “criminal wage.” He explained that with the current exchange rate, the value of the minimum wage has significantly depreciated over the years, making it inadequate to meet the needs of workers, even in the public service.
