In a tragic incident at the Eke Awka market in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, suspected cultists reportedly killed a member of a rival cult. The incident occurred in the morning while traders were opening their shops for the day’s business.
The victim, identified as Igwe Omeli, was known to be a notorious cultist allegedly used by the market’s leadership to collect tolls. According to a source, he spotted members of the rival cult and attempted to escape and alert his gang members. However, he was unsuccessful, and he fell victim to the brutal attack.
In a gruesome act, the assailants decapitated the victim and took away his head and manhood, leaving the rest of his body lying in the market.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident, and operatives have been dispatched to the scene to conduct an investigation.
As a result of the violence, traders in the market quickly closed their shops, fearing possible reprisals from the rival group.
The incident has left the community in shock and raises concerns about the escalating cult-related violence in the area. Authorities are working to restore peace and ensure the safety of residents and traders.
