In a significant milestone for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Zaphaniah Bitrus Jisalo has become the first native of the FCT since 1999 to be appointed as a Minister. Born on April 3rd, 1970, Hon. Jisalo is a seasoned politician, PR expert, administrator, and former Member of the House of Representatives.
His educational journey began at the Garki Primary School, Abuja, and later at the Government Secondary School, Karu. Hon. Jisalo pursued higher education at the Institute of Mass Communication and Technology, Jos, and the Nigeria Institute of Journalism, Lagos. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Jos, where he expanded his knowledge with an Advanced Diploma in Applied Psychology and a Diploma in Criminal Justice and Administration.
To further enhance his expertise, Hon. Jisalo studied Public Relations at the Institute of Mass Communication and Technology and delved into Government Policies, Planning, and Implementation at Thames Valley University in London, UK.
His professional journey commenced as a Public Affairs Officer with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from 1990 to 2002. However, he later ventured into politics and made significant strides in his political career, serving as the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) from 2004 to 2010, with a re-election in 2007.
In 2011, Hon. Jisalo took a major leap in his political career by being elected into the Federal House of Representatives under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Abuja Municipal/Bwari Constituency. His dedication and effective leadership led to his re-election in 2015, where he continued to serve in the 7th and 8th National Assembly.
Throughout his tenure as a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Jisalo actively contributed to various House Committees, displaying his passion for the development of the nation. He served on committees such as Sports, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Defense, Customs & Excise, Appropriations, and National Security & Security.
In 2022, he was appointed as the FCT Coordinator of the Tinubu Solidarity Group (TSG), showcasing his continued commitment to political engagement and public service. As an indigene of Garki in Abuja Municipal Area Council LGA, Hon. Jisalo remains dedicated to the progress and prosperity of the FCT.
Beyond his political engagements, Hon. Zaphaniah Jisalo is a devoted family man, married with children. His appointment as Minister marks a historic moment for the FCT and reflects his dedication and expertise in governance and administration.
