The Ondo State Police Command has taken into custody a 45-year-old man, Bankole Oginni, following a gruesome incident involving the death of a woman alleged to be his ex-lover. Authorities reported that the lifeless body of a 45-year-old woman, whose identity has been withheld by the police, was discovered at the residence of the suspect, Bankole Oginni. The daughter of the deceased played a pivotal role in unraveling the sinister circumstances. After arriving at the suspect’s house in response to an invitation from him, the deceased’s daughter was confronted with a horrifying scene: her mother’s lifeless body was tied with ropes, certain body parts had been gruesomely removed, and evident signs of hot water burns were found on her body.
Confirming the incident, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the daughter had reported her mother’s disappearance and subsequently traced her to the suspect’s dwelling. The police promptly responded to the distressing discovery, securing the crime scene and initiating an investigation into the shocking incident.
The deceased’s remains have been transferred to a hospital morgue for further examination and preservation. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect, who purportedly identifies as a footballer, is now under police custody.
