In a shocking and tragic incident in Ogun State, a 20-year-old boy identified as Ridwan has confessed to murdering his own father as part of a money ritual. He was apprehended by officers of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps in Oshoku village, Ijebu North Local Government Area.
The So-Safe Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, disclosed the details of the gruesome incident. According to Ganzallo, officers on routine patrol responded to a strange noise coming from a building in Oshoku at around midnight on August 31. Upon entering the building to investigate, they discovered the lifeless body of a man lying in a pool of blood. The alleged killer had fled the scene.
Ganzallo instructed the Zonal Commander, Ijebu Zonal Command, Marcus Ayankoya, to apprehend the suspected killer within 24 hours. The suspect was eventually found hiding in a bush.
During interrogation, the young man confessed to the heinous crime. He revealed that he had used a rope to strangle his father, Ishau, and then used a knife to remove specific body parts for a ritual purpose. The parts he removed included his father’s private part, larynx, and four teeth, as requested by a ritualist known as Baba Kekere.
However, when questioned about the whereabouts of Baba Kekere, the young man refused to provide any details.
The So-Safe Corps Commander confirmed that the suspected killer had been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Ogbere Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
This tragic incident highlights the disturbing nature of ritualistic crimes in some parts of Nigeria, where individuals resort to extreme measures, including murder, in pursuit of wealth or supernatural powers. It also underscores the importance of law enforcement agencies in apprehending perpetrators and ensuring that justice is served.
