*Abeokuta, Ogun State – September 1, 2023* – The Department of State Security (DSS) in Ogun State has detained Wale Adedayo, the suspended chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, over allegations of diverting council funds and making accusations against Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Adedayo had accused Governor Abiodun of withholding local government funds for the past two years. He had been summoned to the DSS office in Abeokuta on Thursday and again on Friday to address these allegations.
However, Adedayo was detained by the DSS on Friday after his second visit to their office. His detention has raised concerns, with one of his aides expressing worry that Adedayo might spend the weekend in custody. The aide revealed that Adedayo had not been allowed to leave the DSS office since his arrival and mentioned that Governor Abiodun had also visited the DSS office earlier in the day.
The circumstances surrounding Adedayo’s detention remain unclear, and his supporters are seeking answers and his release from custody.
