Sam Amadi, the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, has suggested that President Bola Tinubu believes he will emerge victorious at the Presidential Election Tribunal. Amadi’s claim is based on the fact that Tinubu traveled to India a few days before the tribunal’s judgment.
Tinubu arrived in New Delhi, India, for a six-day official visit to attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit and other engagements. He was accompanied by top government officials, including ministers and presidential aides. While in India, the president is expected to participate in the G20 Summit, scheduled to be held between September 9 and September 10. He will also have high-level meetings with other world leaders and business executives, as well as meet the Nigerian community in India.
Meanwhile, the presidential election tribunal is in session, preparing to deliver judgment on petitions by presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi. Both Atiku and Obi have urged the tribunal to overturn Tinubu’s victory, claiming that he did not win the last presidential election.
