Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has expressed his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decision to allocate significant ministerial portfolios to the South East region. Governor Soludo commended President Tinubu for this gracious gesture, even in light of the relatively low vote count the President received in the region during the last presidential election.
Speaking on the matter, Governor Soludo acknowledged that President Tinubu’s allocation of the Minister of Works portfolio to the South East was a substantial and meaningful move for the region’s development. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the dynamics of political bargaining, stating, “In politics, you don’t get what you deserve but what you bargain for with votes.”
Governor Soludo further pointed out that considering the total votes contributed by the South East region and assessing the ministerial portfolios received, there might not be a strong basis for demanding more “juicy” portfolios. However, he expressed gratitude that the President had chosen to appoint a highly qualified and capable individual from the region.
He praised the appointee, describing them as “one of our finest and best, one of the few engineers who pioneered concrete pavement as the current standard for road construction.” This move is seen as a recognition of the importance of infrastructure and engineering expertise in the development of the nation.
