The camp of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has responded to the call made by the Federal Capital Territory minister, Nyesom Wike, for the expulsion of Atiku and other party chieftains, Aminu Tambuwal and Sule Lamido, from the party. Don Pedro Obaseki, Atiku’s Director of Research, Strategy and Documentation, issued a strong statement, suggesting that Wike may face expulsion from the PDP.
Obaseki accused Wike of undermining the party, pointing out that his recent call for the expulsion of Atiku and others, along with his numerous criticisms of the PDP, as well as his alleged acts of betrayal, have made him a subject for expulsion from the party. According to Obaseki, Wike has played a significant role in the internal crises that the PDP has faced.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Obaseki stated, “Wike [is] the problem of the PDP, and expelling Wike now is a task that must be done by the PDP.” He further emphasized, “The person who deserves to be expelled from the party is the man who is calling for the expulsion of others from the party.”
Obaseki accused Wike of creating a faction within the party known as the G-5, which went against the party’s constitution and structures. He alleged that Wike campaigned against the party’s interests and had been involved in conflicts with various party members.
Obaseki stated, “Wike has crossed the red line and now, he should be ready. We are coming at him like a thousand bricks. He has unleashed the dogs of war, and we will not sit back and watch him ride roughshod over the party.”
