Nigerian singer Teniola Apata, known as Teni, has opened up about a traumatic incident from her childhood, revealing that her father, Simeon Apata, a retired Nigerian army Brigadier-General, was assassinated in front of her and her family members.
The tragic event occurred on January 8, 1995, in their Lagos home. Teni was just two years old at the time.
In a recent appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast hosted by actor Temisan Emmanuel Ahwieh, known as Taymesan, Teni discussed the impact of the traumatic incident on her life.
She described her father as a disciplinarian who owned a school called Apata Memorial High School and was known for his philanthropic activities.
Losing her father at such a young age left a lasting impact on Teni. She mentioned that the trauma affected her psychologically and emotionally, leading to trust issues as she grew up. The gunmen had entered their house with the intent to assassinate her father.
