The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Ltd (CCECC) has pledged to complete the Abuja light rail project within 8 months. This commitment was extracted by Vice President Kashim Shettima during a meeting with CCECC Chairman, Mr. Jason Zhang, and members of the management team.
Vice President Shettima commended CCECC for its long history in Nigeria and its contributions to landmark projects in the country. He emphasized the strong relationship between Nigeria and China and expressed appreciation for CCECC’s willingness to support Nigeria and other African countries without interfering in local politics.
Shettima assured CCECC that the Nigerian government, under President Tinubu’s administration, would sustain its relationship with the company and the people of China. He highlighted the significance of the Abuja light rail project and its importance to Nigerians.
The Managing Director of CCECC, David Waig, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering the project on time and expressed readiness to go above and beyond to ensure the successful completion of the Abuja light rail line by May 2024. He also called on the Federal Capital Territory Administration to engage an operational company to facilitate the smooth launch of the rail project.
