In preparation for the upcoming local government elections in Ekiti State scheduled for December 2nd, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, along with APC State Chairman Barr. Paul Omotoso and other party leaders, officially welcomed around 200 members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) from Efon Local Government area to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The decampees, including notable figures such as former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Femi Ige; former PDP Women leader in the local Government, Hon. Lucia Adetunji, and PDP House of Assembly candidate in the last Assembly polls, Pastor Stephen Olusola, were received at the APC Party Secretariat in Efon Alaaye.
Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude for their decision to join the ruling party and assured them of equal opportunities within the APC. He emphasized that the party’s doors remained open for others considering the switch and urged existing APC members to welcome the newcomers warmly. The Governor stressed the importance of unity among party members for the continued progress of the State.
Addressing the decampees, Pastor Stephen Olusola cited the Governor’s leadership style and outstanding performance as the driving factors behind their decision to join the APC. He commended the Governor’s achievements in less than a year in office and pledged the group’s full support and loyalty. Olusola hinted at the likelihood of more PDP members joining the APC in the near future.
