In a successful joint operation conducted in the Lere District of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area in Bauchi State, a total of sixty-seven bandits were neutralized by a combined force comprising the police, army, local hunters, and vigilantes.
The governor of Bauchi State, who personally disclosed this information during a visit to the security operatives in the region, lauded the gallantry displayed by the collaborative security team. He expressed his admiration for their dedication and pledged ongoing moral and financial support for their efforts in securing Bauchi State and its citizens. As a tangible demonstration of support, the governor announced a donation of N10 million along with 30 motorcycles to the hunters and vigilantes who actively participated in the successful rescue operations of kidnapped victims.
During his address, the governor issued a stern warning to traditional rulers, cautioning them against providing refuge and support to bandits within their domains. He emphasized that any traditional ruler found compromising their duties for inducements is not only unpatriotic but poses a greater threat to the security of the region than the bandits themselves.
Furthermore, the governor highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Internal Security Ministry, initiated by his administration. The ministry is currently developing strategies to engage and train a significant number of youths under the guidance of conventional security operatives. This initiative aligns with the governor’s commitment to fulfill his oath of office, prioritizing the security of lives and properties of the people of Bauchi State.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Auwal Mohammed, expressed satisfaction with the seamless cooperation among various security agencies in combating crimes and ensuring public safety. He reassured the state government and other stakeholders of the continued dedication to maintaining a peaceful environment for the residents of Bauchi State.
