The Hamas terrorist group has issued a chilling threat, announcing plans to execute hostages live on television if Israel continues its attacks. In a statement released, Hamas stated, “From this moment on, we announce that any targeting of innocent civilians without warning will be met, regretfully to say, by executing one of the hostages in our custody.”
The group further warned that these executions would be broadcast, expressing regret over their decision. A representative of Hamas conveyed to Israeli news outlets, “From this hour, any targeting of our people in the safety of their homes, without warning, will be met with the execution of civilian hostages, which will be broadcast with video and audio.”
It is estimated that Hamas is currently holding approximately 150 Israelis hostage. The situation has escalated tensions, and the threat of live executions on television adds a new dimension to the already fraught situation in the region.
Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) responded to the threat, with spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari expressing strong condemnation. He stated, “This is not the Yom Kippur War — it is Yom Kippur multiplied by 100 because here we are talking about murder, the systematic slaughter of babies, girls, boys, things that are hard to bear.”
Hagari emphasized the need for a robust response, likening the situation to dealing with Nazis. He asserted, “We have to deal with this as though they are Nazis. What we would do to Nazis, to do to them.”
The threat of live executions on television adds a disturbing element to the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel, raising concerns about the potential for further violence and the impact on civilian populations caught in the crossfire.
