Bode George, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed optimism about the party’s prospects of making a comeback. He has pledged to work towards ensuring the PDP regains its former prominence and urged party members to stand strong.
The PDP faced internal divisions and challenges following its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s choice of Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election. This decision led to calls from some party leaders, including Nyesom Wike, for the resignation of the former party’s national chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, in pursuit of regional balance within the party.
Despite these internal disputes, Bode George is confident that efforts will be made to move the PDP forward. He addressed a PDP general assembly in Lagos, assuring loyal party members that the party would not be allowed to fade into obscurity.
He also indicated that a thorough post-mortem would be conducted by the party’s national leadership to address and resolve the issues that had impacted the party’s unity and political outlook.
