The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has delivered a stern warning to Governor Ademola Adeleke, citing the defeat of Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the recent Kogi State gubernatorial election, as a crucial political lesson.
According to reports from Pmnews.ng, Melaye faced defeat in the 2023 Kogi gubernatorial election, with the APC’s Usman Ahmed Ododo emerging as the winner. Governor Adeleke, who served as the campaign chairman of the PDP in the election, now finds himself the subject of political scrutiny.
In a statement signed by Osun APC chairman Tajudeen Lawal, the defeat of Melaye is described as the political demystification of Adeleke. The statement emphasizes that the outcome in Kogi State should serve as a metaphorical mirror for Adeleke, highlighting what the Osun APC sees as his political emptiness.
Lawal contends that Adeleke’s involvement in the Kogi State election inadvertently brought political misfortune, challenging the perception that Adeleke possessed a tested election strategy. The statement suggests that Adeleke’s success in previous Osun elections may have been influenced by factors other than a well-devised strategy.
The APC further criticizes Adeleke for not disclosing the challenges faced in Kogi, including PDP-related violence resulting in the loss of lives. The statement warns Governor Adeleke that the APC will use all constitutional means to dislodge him from office in the upcoming 2026 governorship elections.
Addressing Adeleke’s administration, Lawal urges the governor to distribute the Federal Government’s N9 Billion fuel subsidy removal palliative to the state’s people. The statement emphasizes that voters in 2026 will use their cards to express their discontent, cautioning Adeleke against delaying the distribution of the palliative.
The political warning from the Osun APC suggests heightened tensions and a potential shift in the political landscape as the 2026 governorship election approaches.
