In a move to ensure stability amid ongoing legal proceedings, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Setonji Koshoedo as its acting National Secretary. The decision was reached during a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Tuesday.
Setonji Koshoedo, previously the Deputy National Secretary, will assume the role of the National Secretary on an interim basis pending the resolution of a legal case currently before the Enugu High Court. The announcement was made by the PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, who emphasized the necessity of the appointment to maintain the smooth functioning of the party.
Damagum clarified, “We decided that the Deputy National Secretary should take over in an acting capacity pending the resolution of the Court case.” He further urged all parties involved in the legal dispute to adhere to the party’s due process and temporarily halt any actions.
The decision to appoint Koshoedo as the acting National Secretary comes in response to conflicting court orders regarding the position. The PDP aims to navigate the legal complexities with a focus on maintaining organizational coherence during this period.
