The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has expressed confidence in securing a victory in the forthcoming rerun election, following the directive from the Court of Appeal.
Buhari Maijega, the spokesman for the state’s PDP, conveyed optimism during a telephone interview in Gusau, the state capital. He confidently stated that Governor Dauda Lawal would emerge victorious in the rerun election, pointing out that Lawal was leading by over 65,000 votes in the previous governorship election against his opponent from the APC, former Governor Bello Mattawalle.
Maijega acknowledged potential challenges, including security issues affecting voter turnout in certain areas, but remained optimistic about Lawal’s chances.
He called on APC members and supporters to participate actively in the rerun election, which will be conducted in specific polling units in Maradun, Bukkuyum, and Birnin Magaji local government areas. Additionally, Maijega suggested that, depending on the outcome, Lawal might challenge the judgment of the Appeal Court at the Supreme Court.
