In a shocking incident, an official of the Lagos State government was reportedly kidnapped by hooded gunmen at his residence in Igbe-Oloja, Ikorodu, Lagos. The abduction occurred around 9 p.m. on Monday when the victim, a senior staff of the Revenue Department at Government House, Alausa, Lagos, was approaching his residence at Progressive Estate in Ikorodu.
The victim, popularly known as Jagaban, parked his car a few meters from his house and, after calling his wife to open the gate, was accosted by heavily armed gunmen. The assailants reportedly escaped through the swampy area close to the scene. The incident has sent shock waves through the community.
Sources revealed that the kidnappers have contacted the victim’s wife, demanding a ransom of N20 million for his release. In response, a team of policemen is actively searching the area for clues that could lead to the victim’s rescue.
Officials of the Lagos State government have been informed about the kidnapping, and some have visited the victim’s residence, holding meetings with his family. At present, the police are working diligently to apprehend the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the government official.
When contacted, the Lagos State police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the kidnapping incident, stating that the police are actively involved in efforts to rescue the victim and apprehend the perpetrators. However, he did not confirm the identity of the kidnapped official.
