In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old boy identified as Mubarak has been apprehended for allegedly murdering his mother’s boss, Mrs. Sidikat Anuoluwapo, over an N80,000 cell phone. The lifeless body of Mrs. Sidikat was discovered in her room by one of her granddaughters, prompting a police investigation in Ikare Akoko.
According to reports, Mubarak was found with the victim’s cell phone during the police investigation, leading to his arrest. He reportedly implicated another suspect, Reliwan, aged 20, as his accomplice. The investigation revealed that Mubarak is the son of a housekeeper and cleaner employed by the victim.
The suspects allegedly demonstrated to police detectives how they scaled the fence and attacked the victim in Similoluwa area of Agbaluku Arigidi Akoko. Witnesses stated that Mubarak used to accompany his mother to the victim’s house when she went to work.
The police source disclosed, “The two suspects disclosed that they scaled the fence and not through the main gate in the afternoon. Having gained entry, they went straight that afternoon to the deceased room where she was lying on her bed after taking her bath. They confessed that they used a wooden box to shatter her head while the second suspect strangled her.”
Mubarak’s mother, Oluwasuen, who is also employed by the victim, has been arrested in connection with the case. The investigation has been transferred to police headquarters in Akure for further inquiry and legal proceedings.
