In a significant pronouncement, the Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, asserted on Sunday that God has ordained Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to be the President of Nigeria. The monarch called on all Nigerians to rally behind Tinubu’s administration and strive for national unity.
The Oba highlighted Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential poll and his subsequent emergence as the incumbent President, interpreting it as a divine mandate for him to lead the country. He urged citizens to support Tinubu to realize the collective vision of a greater Nigeria.
During a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina, Oba Ewuare II emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence for sustainable development in all sectors of the nation’s economy. He emphasized the positive impact of diversity and urged Nigerians to reconcile their differences, fostering a sense of family, peace, unity, and harmony.
“God has ordained that Tinubu would become President of Nigeria. We are all one. I am for peace and tranquility. We must live together as one. Nigeria is big. We must iron out our differences and learn to live together as one, big family,” he stated.
The Oba of Benin congratulated Governor Sanwo-Olu on his reelection and commended the Governor’s achievements in Lagos. He urged the Governor to continue striving for greater heights in his second term.
Following the courtesy visit, the Oba visited the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History with Governor Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and other cabinet members. He praised Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to the promotion of culture and tradition.
In response, Governor Sanwo-Olu assured that Lagos State would remain a home for everyone, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political affiliations. He conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s greetings to the Oba and encouraged the traditional ruler to continue supporting the Federal Government for the benefit of citizens, noting positive indicators in the country’s GDP in the third quarter of the year. Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that President Tinubu would deliver tangible dividends of democracy to alleviate poverty and foster socioeconomic development in the country.
