The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has issued a circular titled ‘Prohibition of Usage Of Ghana Must Go,’ banning passengers from using ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags at all of Nigeria’s airports. The ban, which applies particularly to passengers traveling through international airports, is aimed at addressing the significant loss incurred by airlines and damage caused to airport conveyor belt systems.
The circular, signed by Henok Gizachew, Manager of Airport Services at FAAN, emphasizes that passengers intending to use ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags must have their items well-packaged in a carton or hardcover of rectangular size. The ban is attributed to the breakdown of conveyor belt systems in various airports across the country, leading to substantial costs for the airport authority.
The ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags, known for their lightweight and high load-carrying capacity, are popular among Nigerian travelers. However, their use has resulted in operational challenges and financial burdens on the aviation sector, prompting FAAN to take measures to address the issue.
