In a significant shake-up, no fewer than 135 high-ranking officials in the Federal Civil Service, including directors, deputy directors, and assistant directors, have been redeployed to new Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The redeployment, detailed in a memo from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, is dated November 30, 2023.
The memo, identified as “HCSD/CMO/EM/CPA/908/III/154” and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office of the OHCSF, Marcus Ogunbiyi, was addressed to key government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, among others.
The directive outlined the approval of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for the deployment of the specified officers in the Federal Civil Service. It emphasized that all officers must be accepted and documented by the respective ministries, warning against the rejection of officers, which would not be condoned.
The memo stressed that the handover and taking-over processes must be completed by Thursday, December 7, 2023. Directors of Human Resources Management and Administration were also instructed to submit compliance details to the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, by Monday, December 11, 2023.
Officers were reminded that failure to adhere to the posting instructions contravenes Public Service Rule 100301b and 020602[iv], and appropriate sanctions would be applied. The redeployment marks a significant administrative restructuring within the Federal Civil Service, potentially impacting various sectors and operations.
