In a press statement released today, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has issued a stern warning to the public about a fraudulent empowerment scheme circulating on social media. The commission has identified a fake account, operating under the guise of the NDDC, misleading individuals into believing that the organization is currently registering participants for an empowerment initiative across the nine states under its jurisdiction.
The deceptive social media account directs unsuspecting individuals to a counterfeit website, https://ndjobsskillsdb.ng/dataregistry, masquerading as “Niger Delta Youth HOPE.” This site falsely claims to be a platform for “Register Youth Data Registration” and “Niger Delta Skills Data Base.”
Prospective applicants are urged to fill out an online form and submit copies of their educational certificates, along with passport photographs. However, the NDDC has categorically stated that it is not affiliated with this fake registration platform. The commission emphasizes that this scheme is a deliberate attempt to deceive the people of the Niger Delta region.
It has been observed that the fraudsters are impersonating the NDDC-sponsored Project HOPE website, using the organization’s name, logo, and that of Project HOPE to carry out their fraudulent activities. The NDDC is concerned about the potential damage this could inflict on its reputation and has alerted security agencies to thoroughly investigate and apprehend the criminals responsible.
The public is strongly advised to verify information related to NDDC initiatives only through the official commission’s website (www.nddc.gov.ng) and the authentic Project HOPE website (https//jobsskillsdb.nddc.gov.ng). Anyone claiming to represent the NDDC or Project HOPE in unauthorized announcements should be treated as a criminal and reported to security agencies for appropriate legal action.
