The Edo State chapter of the Labour Party has officially disclaimed the purported guidelines and timetable for the Edo governorship primaries circulated by Dr Abayomi Arabambi. Comrade Sam Uroupa, the Publicity Secretary of Edo State Labour Party, clarified that Dr Arabambi is neither a member of the Labour Party nor an official of the party, thus lacking the authority to issue statements on its behalf.
In a statement, Uroupa emphasized that the national secretariat of the Labour Party has not released any guidelines for the nomination of the party’s candidate for the Edo State 2024 governorship election. He further asserted that Dr Arabambi, who issued the purported guidelines, is not connected to the Labour Party’s communication channels and lacks the standing to formulate guidelines for the Edo State Labour Party gubernatorial primaries.
The Edo State chapter urged the party’s governorship aspirants, members, and the general public to disregard the guidelines issued by Dr Abayomi Arabambi. The statement assured that the public would be duly informed of the activities lined up for the Edo governorship primaries when the national secretariat of the Labour Party issues the official guidelines and timetable.
“We appeal to all the Labour Party governorship aspirants in Edo State, all party members, our teeming supporters in Edo State, and the general public to disregard the guidelines and timetable for the Edo State governorship election as issued by Dr Abayomi Arabambi as he’s not a member of Labour Party,” the statement concluded.
