The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, has revealed that the state government is set to prioritize the completion of ongoing projects across the state in the coming year. Speaking exclusively to The PUNCH, Omotoso outlined key infrastructure developments, emphasizing the importance of healthcare facilities, including hospitals, and the construction of the new Lekki airport.
The ambitious N2.2tn budget, according to Omotoso, will be utilized judiciously to address critical areas of infrastructure development. He highlighted specific projects that will receive attention in the new year, including the completion of Mercy Seat Hospital, which is poised to become the largest pediatric hospital in Africa upon completion.
The Commissioner also underscored the significance of mental health and announced that the Mental Health Centre in Ketu Ejinrin, a 500-bed hospital and rehabilitation center, will be finalized. The Ojo General Hospital, the first in decades, is another healthcare facility slated for completion.
Omotoso also shared insights into the progress of the new airport being constructed in the Lekki area, assuring residents that the project will come to fruition. He expressed confidence that the combination of these projects will contribute to the development of Lagos as a mega city.
In his reassurance to Lagos residents, Omotoso promised “exciting times, exciting moments, and great projects” in the new year. The commitment to completing ongoing initiatives reflects the state government’s dedication to providing essential services, generating employment, and enhancing the overall well-being of Lagosians.
