In a strategic move to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Daniel Bwala, revealed on Tuesday that opposition political parties are set to form a formidable coalition. Bwala, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, emphasized the necessity of a united front to prevent President Bola Tinubu from spending eight years in office.
Bwala asserted, “Without a coalition of political parties, Tinubu is going to spend the next eight years. That one is for sure.” He expressed confidence in the formation of a robust coalition that would absorb elements causing problems in various political parties, hinting at a collaborative effort to challenge the status quo.
During the program, Bwala accused Tinubu of exacerbating crises within opposition parties, pointing to instances in the Labour Party and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). He suggested that the anticipated coalition would serve as a unifying force, neutralizing internal conflicts and presenting a formidable challenge to the ruling party.
The PDP chieftain also commented on the political turmoil in oil-rich Rivers State, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara is reportedly facing challenges following a fallout with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is now a minister in the APC-led Federal Government.
Bwala predicted a potential removal of Governor Fubara from office, indicating that the governor had unknowingly walked into a trap. While not specifying who set the trap, Bwala urged prayers for Fubara, suggesting that the unfolding events in Rivers State were intricate and only time would reveal the true nature of the situation.
